Why I Return to Spiritual Formation Every Year
I’ve never been able to meditate on my own. My mind races and the to-do list dominates my thoughts. It is different at Meeting for Worship. The collective energy and intention to settle in expectant waiting of a community of Seekers helps me to find that quiet center we all talk about. I found this to be true in Spiritual Formation as well. I’ve never been able to stay with a spiritual practice; there are many. Through Spiritual Formation, I found the simple practice of gratitude sustains me. I’ve gotten to know people in the community more personally through their sharing of their spiritual lives. Seeing them on Sunday brings a deeper experience of joy, connection, and community. My spiritual life has deepened through Worship Sharing around readings and queries offered each month. Like all of us, I can get caught-up in the activities and demands of daily life. Having those two extra days a month dedicated to spiritual friendship has been and is a touch stone to the Light within.
