The Walkers Return: The Peaceward Oral History Project
On a weekend in May, a group of walkers from Brooklyn on a pilgrimage to Washington, D.C., stayed overnight at our Meeting. Their journey was made in the spirit of the historic Flushing Remonstrance, a testament to religious freedom. Now, a small group is returning for their Peaceward Project and they need our help!
The walkers will return to Stony Run on Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19, 2025, and we're looking for volunteers to provide them with dinner and breakfast. This is a wonderful opportunity to extend our hospitality and show our support for their dedicated work. They will then join us for Worship on Sunday.
As part of the Peaceward Project, Friends are invited to sit for a 20-30 minute recorded conversation. This is a chance for elder Friends, in particular, to reflect on their experiences with peace and how they have actively engaged with it in their lives. The project aims to create a public archive of these testimonies, ensuring that the wisdom of those who have devoted their lives to peace is preserved for future generations. Each video will be made publicly and freely accessible on the internet in a steadily growing archive illustrating the integral work done across generations to steward the project of envisioning a peaceful world.
