Almost a quarter of our annual budget goes to support not-for-profit organizations whose mission aligns with our Quaker values. American Friends Service Committee (AFSC – National and South Region)

The American Friends Service Committee is a Quaker organization that works to promote lasting peace with justice around the world. Founded in 1917 to provide conscientious objectors with an opportunity to aid civilian war victims, AFSC works on issues including economic justice, peacebuilding, immigrants' rights, and civil rights. The organization operates programs both in the United States and internationally, guided by Quaker values of equality, peace, and human dignity. Baltimore Peace Movement (formerly Baltimore Ceasefire 365)

Baltimore Peace Movement creates opportunities for the community to notice, uplift, nurture, share, and bask in the peace that already exists within each of us. The organization emerged from the Baltimore Ceasefire movement and continues to work for violence interruption and community healing. Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL)

FCNL is a nonpartisan Quaker lobby in the public interest, working to bring the voices and values of Quakers to bear on policy decisions in Washington, DC. As the largest team of registered peace lobbyists in the nation's capital, FCNL advocates for peacebuilding, disarmament, economic justice, environmental stewardship, and civil liberties. The organization's multi-faceted approach draws on the expertise of registered lobbyists in Washington with a nationwide advocacy network of grassroots supporters, cultivating relationships with elected officials and community leaders.
Friends Peace Teams

Friends Peace Teams is a Quaker organization that brings people together in spiritual community to transform conflict and patterns of violence locally and globally. The organization sponsors peace teams and supports grassroots peace initiatives, particularly through the African Great Lakes Initiative (AGLI), which works in Burundi, Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. AGLI responds to requests from local religious and non-governmental organizations that focus on conflict management, peacebuilding, trauma healing, and reconciliation.
Interfaith Action for Human Rights (IAHR)

Baltimore Yearly Meeting Camping Programs STRIDE

Baltimore Yearly Meeting's camping programs include Catoctin Quaker Camp, Shiloh Quaker Camp, Opequon Quaker Camp, and Teen Adventure. The STRIDE Program (Strengthening Transformative Relationships In Diverse Environments) provides financial assistance and support to ensure that Quaker camping experiences are accessible to youth from diverse backgrounds. These camps offer children and teenagers opportunities to experience community, nature, and spiritual growth in a Quaker setting, fostering values of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship of the earth.
Belize Friends School and Center

Belize Friends School ministers in Belize City while educating boys and girls. The school serves students in the Southside neighborhood of Belize City, the most impoverished urban community in Belize. Stony Run Friends Meeting supports the school's Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) workshops, the Community Safety Project to end human trafficking and resist gang recruitment, physical improvements to the building, and food distribution programs. The school provides scholarships, school supplies, and uniforms so children can stay in class, complete high school, and pursue new opportunities.
Friends of Great Kids Farm

Great Kids Farm is a 33-acre urban farm that exposes Baltimore City School students to farm experiences including streams, woods, fields, and greenhouses. The farm provides hands-on opportunities for children to connect farm and plate, reinforces curricular concepts, strengthens environmental literacy, and promotes healthy habits for the whole child. Field trips to the farm give urban students direct experiences with agriculture and nature that are otherwise unavailable to many.

Friends School of Baltimore, founded in 1784 as Baltimore's first school, is a Quaker independent school that provides coeducational education from Pre-K through grade 12. The school exists to foster in young people the skills, knowledge, and habits of mind needed to partner with their communities and to be courageous change-makers in the world. Guided by the Quaker testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship, and the core belief that there is that of God in each person, Friends School values diversity, pursues equity, and strives to be an actively inclusive institution. The school's educational philosophy emphasizes that learning is grounded in relationships and deepened by application to the world beyond campus. Friends School operates programs including the Summer Outreach Program for Baltimore City students and Little Friends Early Learning Center for children ages 6 weeks to 4 years. McKim Center

McKim Center, located in Baltimore's Jonestown neighborhood, creates a safe haven connecting people throughout the city, empowering and motivating young people to work together and give their best, and developing new leaders and role models for upcoming generations. The McKim School Temple Building opened in 1833 next to the 1781 Friends Meeting House, Baltimore's oldest religious building. McKim was established as a free school in 1821. Coach Garfield Thompson continues to lead as Executive Director. The center is planning major renovations, continuing foundational athletic programming, and partnering with the Baltimore Wisdom Project to provide STEM and healing educational services.

Friends Church Baltimore
Friends Church Baltimore is a programmed Quaker worship community that meets within the Stony Run Friends Meeting space. They hold worship services in the Kenyan tradition every Sunday from 11:30 AM to 1 PM in the Lower School Assembly Room of Friends School. The community offers Bible study on Tuesday evenings and prayer on Thursday evenings via Zoom. Friends Church Baltimore celebrates the diversity of Friends' worship experience worldwide.

Friends Council on Education is an association of Quaker schools in North America, supporting more than 80 member schools and educational programs. FCE provides professional development, networking opportunities, and resources for educators, administrators, and trustees in Quaker education. Quaker Voluntary Service offers young adults (ages 19-30) opportunities for a year of full-time service, simple living, and spiritual exploration in intentional community. Fellows work with social justice organizations in Atlanta, Portland, or Philadelphia, while living together and engaging in Quaker practices. The program combines direct service with education about root causes of social injustice and provides a supported environment for participants to explore faith, values, and vocation.

In the Sahel Region of Burkina Faso, West Africa, Community Building Group improves quality of life and increases educational opportunity for girls who would otherwise be required to help their mothers fetch water and cultivate land. Projects include rainwater harvesting, providing solar-powered irrigation technology, and promoting access to electricity for households and schools.
Intersection of Change

Intersection of Change operates multiple programs: Jubilee Arts uses art as a catalyst for social change through ceramics, visual arts, dance classes, teen entrepreneurship, community art projects, and cultural activities reaching over 2,500 children and adults annually. Strength to Love II is an urban farm providing workforce development and serving citizens returning from incarceration with 14 greenhouses totaling 1.5 acres. The organization has also completed neighborhood revitalization of the 1900 and 2000 blocks of Pennsylvania Avenue including renovation of six buildings, transformation of 18 vacant lots into green spaces, creation of three dozen murals, and conversion of 1.5 acres into an urban farm.
