Next Steps in Racial Justice Process
By Gene Baron, Meeting Clerk

At our Meeting for Worship with a Concern for Business this past weekend, it was announced that we have selected Daquanna Harrison of Adelphi Friends Meeting to lead us on our racial wounding/healing journey.
The small group of people including the Meeting Clerk, members of support committees such as Ministry and Counsel (M&C) and Community, Care and Clearness (CCC), as well as a few other interested members of Meeting from other committees interviewed a handful of people in this process, and we were excited by Daquanna's energy and expertise. She has begun helping us define the shape and scope of the work we will be doing together, and we will share more details about our upcoming sessions as they develop.
Some of you might already be familiar with Daquanna from her work in the BYM community. But if you would like to get introduced to or even more familiar with Daquanna and her work, following are some links she has shared with us:
- Daquanna is a founder and leader at Elevation Educational Consulting Group
- Here is a QuakerSpeak video where Daquanna discusses "Living Up to Our Radical Past"
- A session with SEYM Quakers titled "Simple, Brave, & Outlandish: what challenge can your Meeting meet?"
- Finally, a link to Daquanna's LinkedIn page (you need an account to view)
