Looking to deepen your spiritual journey or uncover hidden histories? This May, the Library Committee is shining a light on Quakerism. Whether you are a lifelong Friend or simply "Quaker-curious," our curated collection has something for every age and interest.

For children and families:

We're currently displaying children's books about Quakers like Maria Mitchell, the first woman to be a professional astronomer, and Levi Coffin, a supporter of the Underground Railroad.

The "Quaker Way" from Friends General Conference (FGC) can be found in the children’s section as well as the book display for teens and adults. If you or your children are new to Quakerism, this is an easy to read introduction. The book includes friendly chapters on Worship, the Testimonies, how meeting works, decision making and more.

For adults of all ages:Enjoy biographies, history, spirituality, and introductions to Quakerism. Lost in the sea of terms Friends use? Take a look at the "Glossary of Quaker Terms.In "Letters to a Fellow Seeker" by Steve Chase, he shares his spiritual journey to explore what it means to be a Quaker, including his understanding of Quakers and Jesus, the Bible, and Christianity."Black Fire: African American Quakers on Spirituality and Human Rights" by Harold Weaver and Stephen Angell is a collection of short writings by Quakers and others About Human rights and race relations from a spiritual and Quaker perspective.
