Friends Women’s Association and African Great Lakes Initiative Updates

Stony Run Forum: Updates from Friends Women's Association and African Great Lakes Initiative

Parfaite Ntahuba, Coordinator of the Friends Women’s Association (FWA), and David Bucura, Coordinator of the African Great Lakes Initiative of Friends Peace Teams, joined us on June 1 for a Forum to share updates on their current projects. A recording of the event is embedded to the right.

Key Discussions from the Event

Parfaite Ntahuba shared plans for a women’s empowerment center and detailed efforts to support 30,000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo. This support includes

providing essential needs such as food, safe shelter, clothing, medical care, and trauma healing. She also discussed FWA’s potential partnership with Nonviolent Peaceforce, which aims to enhance refugee protection.

David Bucura provided valuable insights into current events in Burundi and the surrounding region. His perspective offered a broader understanding of the challenges and urgent needs in the area.
