Engaging Constructively in Conflict

August 23, 2025 @ 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Within any community, including ours, the presence of conflict is not only a possibility but a reality that we must acknowledge and address. It is crucial to recognize that the way we respond to and navigate these conflicts can either strengthen or weaken our bonds. Embracing conflict as an opportunity for growth allows us to deepen our connections and enhance our collective experience. By approaching disagreements with an open heart and a commitment to understanding, we can cultivate an environment where everyone feels valued and heard.

Join us for this workshop on Engaging Constructively with Conflict, where we will develop tools grounded in our Quaker values and practice to use in our lives, both as individuals and as a community. As we seek to live into our faith, we are called to firmly root ourselves in our Quaker foundations, grounding ourselves in Spirit and our testimonies. During this workshop, we will share our experiences and consider the connections of our faith, diversity, conflict, relationship repair, and the search for right relationships with each other and with the world. By developing, practicing, and drawing upon strategies that help us engage with conflict constructively and move toward right relationship, we will build our skills and practice peace building together. This retreat will be of interest to all who long for peace through action.

Led by members of the BYM Friends Supporting Friends Working Group, this in-person event is limited to 30 participants. Register using this link or call Laura in the Meeting Office at 443-703-2591.

Coffee, cold beverages, and light snacks will be provided. Please bring a brown bag lunch.
