Collective Awareness: Considering White Supremacy Culture and Finding Our Place in Anti-Racism Culture
A Three-Hour Experiential Workshop for the Stony Run Community
Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 1:00-4:00 PM (In-person in the Meetinghouse & on Zoom)
Stony Run is on a 16-month journey of deep racial healing and institutional change. You are warmly invited to step across the next threshold with us for a vital, three-hour experiential workshop. Led by our companion in this work, Daquanna Harrison, this workshop is designed to move us from personal reflection to collective awareness as a community. We will focus our collective awareness on how white supremacy culture affects us all and finding Stony Run’s place in anti-racism culture.
What to Expect:
- Unpacking the Water We Swim In: We will explore how White Supremacy Culture (WSC) traits—like perfectionism, urgency, the fear of open conflict, and the worship of the written word—act as invisible habits, that we all have learned, that limit our collective humanity.
- Finding Our Landmark: In small, mixed breakout groups, we will look with clear eyes and tender hearts at the Continuum on Becoming an Anti-Racist, Multicultural Institution. Using Quaker-centered queries, we will map where Stony Run stands today and what structural shifts are required to open doors to authentic equity, particularly for BBIPOC Friends.
- Grounding Our Commitments: We will close by co-creating simple, actionable daily antidotes and practices to bring directly into committee work and daily interactions.
Please bring an openness to sit with discomfort, a commitment to active listening, and a willingness to participate in a shared, holy experiment.
For this workshop, it will be helpful for participants to do some reading in advance:
