Our current meetinghouse was constructed in 1949, with an addition in 1992 and a kitchen renovation in 2022. Although the Quaker Meeting and Friends School of Baltimore separated in the early 1970s to become two distinct organizations, we continue to have close connections in many respects.
Throughout the week, our space is used by Friends School of Baltimore for their worship times, as well as other small groups.
Stony Run’s current airborne illness guidelines can be found here.

Accessibility
Making our community accessible to as many people as possible is important to Stony Run Friends Meeting.
- We have a hearing assist system in the meeting room
- Many of our events are hybrid so that those who can not attend in person can join remotely.
- We have an elevator to assist people going between floors of our building. An usher (or another Friend) can provide the key and assist as necessary.
- There are two designated handicapped parking spaces in front of the Meetinghouse. Generally, we leave the spaces in the circle and closer to our doors for those who have limited mobility and/or for young families.
- We have single-gender and gender-neutral restrooms at Stony Run. All our restrooms are accessible. You are encouraged to use whatever bathroom is most comfortable for you.
- We provide free childcare on Sunday mornings and at most other events with advance notice.

Library
The library collection has something for everyone. We offer a wide variety of books and periodicals ranging from Quaker history to current topics of interest. Our children's section is a favorite. The library is also a cozy space for small gatherings. It is where we meet on Sunday for juice in between the two Meetings for Worship.
Use by Outside Groups
We try to make the meetinghouse available for people and groups with a connection to Stony Run and/or Friends School of Baltimore for special events such as weddings (todo link) or memorial services (todo link). For information about using the meetinghouse, please contact the office (sroffice@stonyrunfriends.org) or 443-703-2590.
Environmental Stewardship
Air quality – HEPA air filters are located in all rooms. We’re improving our ventilation systems to achieve both energy efficiency and a clean and safe indoor environment. It turns out some of the old efficiency improvements we did weren’t so great for indoor air quality. As we know better, we do better.
Compost – Stony Run Friends are active composters every week. Please follow the directions over the compost bin in the dining room.
Rain gardens – Stony Run has extensive, award-winning rain gardens, which help control erosion and divert water. This helps both Stony Run and our neighbors. They also serve as teaching gardens for Friends School of Baltimore.
